Adult coloring is all the rage in 2016. Anyone who is anybody is doing it and LiveIntenters are no exception. Unlike the 5 year old versions of ourselves we aren’t just coloring for fun, we are coloring for our mental health!
Take a peek at the Amazon Best Sellers list and you will see multiple coloring books in the top 10. The Huffington Post puts it perfectly, “The activity not only provides a low-stress, low-stakes way to unlock your creative potential, it also unlocks memories of simpler, childhood times, when the biggest cause of anxiety was how to avoid your next nap.” The article even goes on to explain that the phenomenon isn’t exactly new, Carl Jung used it to help his patients long ago.
Here at LiveIntent, we strive to Be Present and our activities are often centered around ways to do just that. So we hopped onto Amazon and ordered a supply of colored pencils, crayons, and markers. We scoured the web for free coloring sheets (I’d consider this site the jackpot – you’re welcome). Then, we set up a coloring station so LiveIntenters could pop by around lunch and spend a little time unwinding while coloring.
As soon as the event was announced excitement filled the office. When the time came people were eager to jump right in and fill in a sheet with their preferred coloring tool (#teamcoloredpencil).
The coloring supplies have been stored until next time and believe us … there will be a next time! As she stared intently at her sheet, Director of Platform Operations Jackie Powell put it beautifully, “this is really helping me to think clearly about everything I need to do this afternoon.” Coloring will continue to be another way that LiveIntenters can Be Present together.
