In this edition of “Meet A LiveIntenter”, we’re taking you back to Berlin, described by many as an old city that has always opened its doors for people coming from around the globe.
Meet Corina Duroiu, who sits among some of our most tech-savvy employees in the Berlin office. There, she hones her skills as a Software Engineer and is known for her bowling prowess and expert knowledge of Dim Sum cuisine in the area. Continually trying to learn from her colleagues to advance her skill set, Corina’s inquisitive nature makes her a perfect fit for LiveIntent.
What led you to LiveIntent?
It happened to be during a turning point in my career. I was looking for a new challenge. I found the LiveIntent job ad and the description sounded very challenging to me. So, I did some research and visited the company’s website and I found some impressive information about business, projects, technology and people. I applied …and now, a year later, I feel that there is still a lot to learn and I really enjoy my role because every day brings different challenges.
Has your perception about email changed since working for LiveIntent?
Before LiveIntent, I thought email was nothing more than a communication channel. While working here, my perception changed. I see that email is a powerful tool that you can use to serve ads to anyone who opens your emails.
Have you always wanted to be a software engineer? If not what drew you to it?
I am not sure that I dreamed of becoming a software engineer, but I have been working in technology since the beginning of my career. I like having the chance to work with other people who I can continually learn from, advance my skill sets and receive honest feedback on work done. I also love having the chance to work in different fields and see my skill set be useful in each one. I like the intellectual challenge and appreciate the chance of meeting different people.
What are some challenges of working in tech?
my career I have been faced with two challenges: the technical one – learning many new things and the social one – working with people around the globe. I overcame both believing that the learning process is never ending.
Any specific advice to give other women in tech or women wanting to enter the industry?
In the tech industry you are not a man or a woman… you are just engineers. Find a way to be a good engineer and then the right place will be waiting for you.
What makes you feel confident?
My confidence is growing and I’ve realized that success comes after failure. As I progress, it makes me stronger and more confident to work and never lose my hope.
What is the best lesson you ever learned?
What you say is important, but how you say it makes the difference. We are human and make mistakes. A “please” and “thank you” can do miracles within our communication.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, which actor or actress would you want to play you? Why?
As long as the role is played as real as possible I would have no preference in actor.
